The history of ROMET motorcycles production dates back to the 1950s and in the 1960s it gained international recognition. The government of that era made sure that Poland wasn't left behind the capitalists Germany and France. So the ROMET designers set themselves to design the first moped on their own concepts. Lacking testing facilities forced them to test prototypes straightaway on the road. The first ROMET bike was the "MR 230 KOMAR" with a two stroke engine of 1,4HP had a two speed gearbox, pedals and hand start, which was quite an achievement at that time. The construction appeared to be so well proven, that many of them are still in use even today!
