Malta's EV Specialists

We are passionate about EVs and lived for many years in California in the United States and watched the Electric Vehicle develop, from the first NiMH powered GM EV-1 through the Toyota Prius Hybrids and now such exotic vehicles as the Tesla Model S and the recently announced Model 3. Since moving to Malta in 2013, my wife and I have never fully understood why the Maltese Is

lands have not yet fallen in love with the Electric Vehicle - but it's something that we really want to address. So Malta EVs was born. Unlike many other countries which have long distances between cities, Malta is small and compact. With modern EVs such as the Nissan Leaf, the Peugeot iON and the Mitsubishi i-MIEV, a single charge can take you from one end of the islands to the other, and back again TWICE before needing a recharge. As a result of the EU funding between 2011 and 2013, Malta is also blessed with a very large number of on street charging points. These are available for a nominal charge for the electricity consumed, but there are also 3 of them (Cirkewwa, Ta'Xbiex and Marsa) that are solar powered and available at no charge whatsoever. Yes, FREE motoring. And this is what we do

Firstly, we can give you advice and guide you in the right direction to find the right vehicle. We understand the underlying technologies, which vehicles are best at which job, how the Maltese conditions affect range, how to plan your charging, the best way of driving an EV etc. We love to chat about EVs and as we said, we are passionate about them. When you have decided which EV you want, we have a network of specialists in the UK who can source the exact vehicle that you need, and test and prepare it for shipping. Most of our vehicles are single owner vehicles, most often direct from the Lease companies and have been fully serviced. They are shipped, fully insured, to Malta and upon arrival will be rechecked. When needed, a VRT will be performed to comply with Maltese regulations and we will perform the vehicle registration for you as needed. Our prices include all shipping/inspection/registration fees and even a full tank of electricity :)

Some vehicles that we bring over can also claim the €4000 Government EV Grant (under 24 months old and less than 12,000 km) and we can assist with the paperwork. If you claim the grant (one car per person, then you must keep the vehicle for at least 36 months or repay the grant.

US company Proterra has one focus: to eliminate the need for a diesel bus, forever. It’s something the company has been working quietly on since 2004, and has made moderate progress since offering now high end "Tesla of buses".
It sold its first three, all-electric buses in 2009, ramping up sales marginally throughout the years since.

This is what we need in Malta (and the rest of the EU!)
We need to encourage more EVs and Zero Emissions.

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has approved tax-free imports of vehicles equipped with electric engines. This will make buying an electric car in Russia about 15 percent cheaper.
