🏋️♂️ The Clean and Jerk: A Test of Strength and Technique
The clean and jerk is a key stage in weightlifting competitions. This exercise consists of two phases: the clean (lifting the bar to the chest) and the jerk (pushing it overhead). Success in the clean and jerk depends not only on strength but also on precise technique.
🔑 Key stages:
✔️ Clean: The barbell is lifted from the platform to the chest in one motion while maintaining balance and control.
✔️ Fixation: The athlete stabilizes in this position and prepares for the next phase.
✔️ Jerk: With a powerful push from the legs, the barbell is driven overhead and locked out.
✔️ Completion: The lift is held steady until the referee signals the attempt is complete.
The clean and jerk requires strength, speed, and perfect balance. From April 13 to 21, 2025, at the European Championships in Arena Chișinău, you will witness the best lifts from Europe’s top athletes. Who will set a new record in this exercise?
