On 17 January 2026, AOPA Luxembourg held its General Assembly. Members gathered to review the past year, discuss the future of General Aviation in Luxembourg, and formalize an important leadership transition.
After many years of dedicated and distinguished service, Peter Sodermans stepped down as President of AOPA Luxembourg. The Assembly elected Ms. Chris Scott – previously a board member, Vice President, and Secretary General – as the new President.

Chris is a committed and enthusiastic pilot who flies ultralights (including her own WT9), as well as light aircraft such as the Cirrus and Robin, and vintage aircraft like the Cessna C140. In addition to her aviation experience, she brings a strong professional background as a lawyer and parliamentary advisor, enhancing her ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and advocate effectively for the General Aviation community.

As both AOPA’s representative and Luxembourg’s delegate to the World Air Sports Federation (FAI), she intends to continue the course set by her predecessor: promoting and protecting ultralight flying and General Aviation at both national and international levels, particularly at a time when the sector faces increasing regulatory, operational, and infrastructure challenges.

Among her priorities is the revitalisation of Luxembourg’s air sports and General Aviation activities, with a strong focus on fostering cooperation across all branches of aviation in the country. Chris also encourages members to play a more active role (whether by joining the board or contributing to specific projects) to strengthen AOPA’s capacity to represent the General Aviation community effectively.

🌍 From the Sands of the Arabian and African Desert to the Future of Flight: Join us this Saturday! ✈️

Luxembourg’s pilot community is gathering for a landmark afternoon at Parc Alvisse, and you’re invited!

We are proud to host Petz Bettendorf, who will share the incredible story of his "impossible" journeys to Saudi Arabia and Senegal in his high-end Swiss Risen (D-MPRV). 🛡️ Not only is this a masterclass in modern navigation, but it's a look at the future of ecological flight—powered by lead-free car fuel!

Beyond the adventure, we are gathering to:

🏅 Honor a Legend: We will nominate the "beating heart" of AOPA, Marco Felten, as an Honorary Member for his 14 years of outstanding service.

🗳️ Shape Our Future: As our veteran board members make way for the next generation, we need YOU to help lead the way into 2026 and beyond.

Schedule: 🕒 14:00: General Assembly & Board Transitions 🕒 15:30: Tributes & Petz Bettendorf’s Presentation 🥂 Followed by a networking reception!

Don't let your seat go empty. Let’s celebrate our history and build our future together.

AOPA Luxembourg Meets with Modellfligerklub Miersch

https://www.aopa.lu/2025/12/17/aopa-luxembourg-meets-with-modellfligerklub-miersch/

We met with the Modellfligerklub Miersch in Lintgen to continue our dialogue on shared airspace safety and cooperation between general aviation and model aircraft operations in Luxembourg.

The meeting focused on better understanding the club’s activities, assessing potential airspace risks, and exploring ways to improve awareness and safety for everyone who enjoys the sky above Luxembourg. While model flying is a long-standing hobby in the region, evolving regulations and the proximity to VFR routes highlighted the importance of open discussion and collaboration.

As a result of ongoing AOPA Luxembourg engagement:
✅ SkyDemon has updated its maps to include the six official model aircraft sites in Luxembourg, improving situational awareness for pilots.
✅ We’ve identified practical areas for future dialogue between DAC, GA pilots and model flyers.
✅ Continued cooperation with the Modellfligerklub Miersch is planned to help ensure safer skies for all.

Thank you to Jacques Wanderscheid and the Modellfligerklub team for the open and constructive conversation. 🙌
Let’s keep flying safe — together! 🌤️
