We have the C of Certification and the H of Homologation in our name—but do you know what sets them apart?

At SNCH, we ensure that not just vehicles but also their individual components, systems, and equipment meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. But what’s the difference between certification and homologation?

📋 Certification is the validation by an accredited independent body of the conformity of a management system, product, or service to specific requirements, according to a standard, through an audit process.

🚗 Homologation (Approval) is the validation by an independent body of the conformity of a component, unit, or vehicle to specific requirements, according to a regulation, through testing, simulation, or verification of plans/files.

🧐 Both require the issuance of a certificate of conformity, either by a competent approval authority for homologation or by an accredited certification body for certification. Self-certification is the validation by the product owner of conformity to a standard, which they provide to the competent authority for subsequent verification, if applicable. All of these validations are required before a product is placed on the market.
