1965 Volkswagen Type 2 Restoration - Part 2: Suspension & Brakes.

After giving this ’65 VW Bus a new life in metal, it was time to tackle one of the most important aspects of its transformation: the suspension and braking system.

We’ve installed a Red9Design Type 2 Full Suspension Kit, a modern upgrade that completely redefines how this classic rides and handles. With double wishbones, coilover dampers, and precise geometry, this setup delivers comfort, stability, and safety far beyond the original design - while keeping the character of the VW Bus intact.

To match the suspension’s performance, we’ve equipped the Bus with a full disc brake system, an electric handbrake, and a brake booster. Together, these upgrades ensure powerful stopping power and reliable control, giving this icon the confidence it deserves on modern roads.

This step is a huge leap toward blending vintage style with modern drivability, setting the foundation for a bus that’s as enjoyable today as it was in the 60s.

This '65 VW Bus came to us rusted, empty, and tired - a classic crying out for a second life. What you see here is the result of serious metalworks: we’ve replaced nearly every panel on the car.

The entire structural foundation was rebuilt from the ground up - every critical section restored or replaced without compromising the original shape or lines. All done in-house with precision and respect for the classic form. 🛠️
