Process of bringing the vehicle

1) purchase the vehicle via Japanese auction according to expected grade,milage & price ( before & after purchase u can check the vehicle auction cheet, buying price , ect via aucjp.com)

2)CIF price

Cost - vehicle buying price, Insurance - up to bring srilanka port around 100 USD
Freight - shipping charge 200,000 yen for small car & up to 250,000yen

3) LC opening charge 15000/= to 25000/= bank to bank difference
CIF amount floating & fixed Dollar rate while open LC,

Usually bank fixing 7 to 10 rupees above the current rate to clear the LC after 40 days

4) once shipment arrived the Hambanthotta port need to pay tax & clear the vehicle
( government issued engine based tax only, without knowing other tax couldn't calculate exact cost of the vehicle)

5) clearing charge 25000/= to 40,000/=

6) Hambantota port to you home delivery by drive yourself or vehicle harrier charge 25000/= upward

■P.A circular 22/99 is the public administration circular which enables the import of motor vehicles under concessionary rates for Public Officers who eligible under retirement permit scheme

■Trade and Investment Policy Circular No. 01/2018 is related to import of motor vehicles under concessionary rates for Public Servants in mentioned government departments and corporations using permits (Rs. 3,600,000) concession)

Good News : Permit Holders can Open LCs from 01st June 2019

Just now Finance Ministry has released a Media notification regarding allowing all Public Servant permit holders to open LCs to import vehicles from 01st of June 2019. Circular will get issued soon.
All importers can start their marketing campaigns on promoting range of vehicles for their prospecting clients.
