පෙට්‍රල් ගැන කතා කරනකොට ගොඩක් වාද විවාද වලට ලක් වෙන මාතෘකාවක් තමයි වාහනේකට යොදන්න ඕන ඔක්ටේන් 92 පෙට්‍රල් ද එහෙම නැත්නම් ඔක්ටේන් 95 පෙට්‍රල් ද කියන එක. මේ ගැන ගොඩක් තැන් වල විවිධ අදහස් ඉදිරිපත් වෙනවා දකින්න පුලුවන්. නමුත් ඒ බොහෝ තැන් වල කතා වෙන්නේ පෙට්‍රල් වල ඔක්ටේන් රේටින් එක, වාහනේ එන්ජිමේ කම්ප්‍රෙෂන් රේශියෝ එක සහ නිෂ්පාදකයාගේ නිර්දේශය අනුව නියමිත ඔක්ටේන් අගයයෙන් යුත් පෙට්‍රල් වර්ගය තෝරාගැනීම කියන දේවල් පමණයි.

Whether to use octane 92 petrol or octane 95 petrol for a motor vehicle has been one of the most controversial topics being discussed among the Sri Lankan motoring community. There are tons of opinions spread via the online media platforms whereas most of them are only based on the octane rating of petrol, the compression ratio of the engines and the recommendations on the owner's manuals given by the manufacturers.

Apart from the octane rating, isn't there any technical difference between these two variants of petrol available in Sri Lanka? Are they of the same quality and standard?
