Nam Theun 2 Visitor Center It is 70 km or around one hour driving. At junction road, notice the blue sign “Nam Theun 2 Visitor Center” that will direct you to the center.

Nam Theun 2 Visitor’s Center features an exhibition hall displaying panels and physical models that provides a welcoming and educational environment to learn more about the Nam Theun 2 Hydropower Project and the key role it plays in the economic and social development of Lao PDR.

From 13 route roundabout in Thakhek, take the road 12 to Gnommalath. Nam Theun 2 Visitor Center is located in Gnommalath, near the power station. The Information Center is open to the public throughout the year. For large groups or to make a special tour, please contact us in advance.

On 26th February, NTPC welcomed teachers and 290 students from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, National University of Laos. The visit aimed at studying the management and protection of the environment such as monitoring of water quality and waste management in the NT2 project area.

On 17 and 18 January, The French Ambassador in Laos, H.E Mrs Claudine LEDOUX paid a visit to the Nam Theun 2 site. The study tour to the hydropower facilities and resettlement area was led by Mr Frederic Hofmann, NTPC CEO. It was also the opportunity to meet with French employees as NTPC is owned by 40% by the leading French Electricity company “Electricite de France” (EDF).

On Monday 11th January, NTPC welcomed technicians from Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) which is the leading electric utility in Japan and the 4th largest electric utility in the world.
