We will list cars that are offered to us by the Japanese and UK market cars through dealer networks or exclusive access to dealership networks like the Japanese USS network.
β€ŽMost of the listed cars haven't been β€œphysically” crosschecked at this point. The reason is mostly cost. Average cost of sending someone to assess a car in the UK is around Ksh 100-150K and around Ksh 50,000 in Japan.

Once we receive an enquiry, client signs agreement and an initial deposit is paid the next step entails contacting our β€œground” assets in Japan and the UK to physically check the car, confirm availability, do document checks and provide more data on the car. At this point any reflags on a vehicle can be noted and in such cases, a refund is issued or we source another unit.

β€ŽIf a car meets our internal standards. Second step entails making purchase. Our assets will head to the dealership, sign the paperwork and take possession of the car.
β€ŽVehicles are normally parked in special pre export yard pending paperwork and further mechanical inspections.

This process happens at the shipping yard. The vehicle is officially β€œderegistered” from the country of origin registry and a certificate of export is issued. The last step is Govt of Kenya inspection which is done by a third party company contracted by KEBs. Kenya has some of the best exports standards in the world. Its not uncommon for vehicles to fail inspections which means repairs before export and another inspection.

β€ŽThe vehicle is loaded onto a ship and in 30-40 days we will receive it in Mombasa. For air freight, process takes 3 days.

This stage entails paying taxes to KRA, Registering the vehicles with NTSA and for UK vehicles, getting a clearance report from Interpol unit at DCI Kenya (reasons to do with theft insurance fraud). This process takes five to seven working days. The final stage is delivery to Nairobi- all units are ferried by licensed trucks.
