Review of 2011, E350 Merc
It looks like all the other E-classes in Nairobi. Civilized and the sharp lines from every angle says you mean business. But once you've have some time to work the throttle, you soon realize you have a baby hulk underneath that suit, an animal with more torque than you'll need in most situations. You see it's not the 0-100kmph time that will get you, although sufficient, it's the 40-90 burst from the rear wheels that will have you giggling behind the steering wheel as you close gaps which most vehicles simply can't. It's drama free unrelenting delivery of power that keeps on delivering, predictably, in a very proper fashion that never get old. There's a gear for every occasion, it's not lighting quick in the shifts but as you learn the throttle, it learns you. Few things feel better than working the accelerator between quarter way and half way as the computers understand the exact power band you have in mind. This results in the wide tires communicating back to you through the well bolstered seats saying "locked and loaded, ready when you are." Especially when the car has begun to learn how you like to move, it's like dancing. If your hours and route allow you to have any highway time with light traffic, most times you'll arrive work whistling and jovial or if on your way home, there's a chance of some revitalisation happening. With some highways being as they are, you'll find yourself wondering if you should do lunch in Nakuru on Saturday or checking out that old hotel in Sultan Hamud on Sunday, just to see if its where you left it, then heading right back. It's exceeding forgiving with fuel consumption. Naivasha and back is a 2k affair. You'll definitely enjoy your motoring life that much more. You'll probably service it once a year if you keep your annual travel under 10,000kms.
