WALKING THE MIND 🚶‍♂️🧠

Starehe Philosophy_ : Do More, With Less, For Others

Hello Brothers!

Our very own Fred Gori (C95) starts his epic 450 km walk from Migori to Nairobi this Tuesday to advocate for better Mental Healthcare Treatment coverage under SHA!

Mental health is a crisis hidden behind silence, and our own Starehe family has felt its devastating pain. We all remember the heartbreaking loss by su***de of our very own role models, the stellar Cnsl. Muriuki Mugambi (C93/94) and the struggles of our Arthur Okumu.

Today, too many men are silently battling depression. Too many families are suffering alone because they cannot afford treatment. Mental health is not a luxury—it is basic healthcare.

Bro Fred Gori-C95 is living the Charge. He is walking for every brother, parent, and Kenyan who has ever suffered in silence. He cannot walk this torturous road alone. The Starehe Class of 95 is standing with Fred in driving this initiative.

Let’s rally behind him as the Starehe fraternity by:

• Powering His Miles : Send what you can to Simon Gichinga Maingi (0722 804 142). Kes. 1,000 powers 1 km of this journey.

• Be His Strength: Call or WhatsApp Fred at 0799 677 865 to cheer him on; or join him on the road and walk alongside him enroute if you can!

• Break the Silence:Share widely in your social & professional circles and push the hashtags and .

• Amplify : Fred needs this message to reach the highest echelons of leadership in this country: from County Governors & Health CECMs ; the Medical Profession Leadership (especially _SHA Board and & Executive_ ); and the President!

Let’s show up for Fred and live the Starehe Charge! 💪

Let’s move the needle and save lives, Brothers. Please dig deep. 🙏💪

Thank you Mr.Nyuthe for the supper on Sunday 16th 2026.

After what seemed impossible 1,100km journey from Busia to Mombasa the Dr Griffin Memorial Bike-a-thon riders were hosted yesterday evening to a sumptuous dinner at Dhows Tavern in Kilifi.

A huge thank you to Mr Charles Nyuthe, class of 1990, for opening his doors and treating our brave and resilient riders to a beautiful evening by the shores of the Indian Ocean.

🚴🏾‍♂️ Voi, We Have Arrived! 🎉

After putting the pedals to serious work, the Dr. Geoffrey Griffin Memorial Bike-A-Thon 2026 riders have officially arrived in Voi! 🏁🔥

And because every champion deserves a proper refuel, the Class of 1993 said, “Enough of this cycling business, let’s feed these boys!” 😂🍽️

The riders were treated to a hearty dinner in Mwatate, with the Class of 1993 led by their Chairman, Samuel Gitau, AbdulQadir Lorot and graciously hosted by Leonard Mcharo. Talk about arriving at the right place at the right time! 😄

A huge thank you to the Class of 1993 for the warm welcome, generous hospitality and much needed fuel. After kilometres of riding, nothing sounds sweeter than “Dinner is ready!” 😂👏🏾

Now that the stomachs are full and the legs have been given a little encouragement, Voi to the next stop, Samburu! 🚴🏾‍♂️

The wheels keep turning. The legacy keeps moving. ❤️💙

Our sincerest gratitude goes to the Class of 1987/89 for their generous donation of KES 1,680,000 in support of Starehe Boys' Centre and School, being annual sponsorship for 12 boys.

The class group has consistently sponsored a boy at the centre every month from January 2021 to June 2026, with the cummulative sponsorship hitting KES. 9.24 Million worth of sponsorships as of June 2026 — and are set to cross the KES. 10 Million mark by end of this year!

The class was represented by Antony Keru, Kennedy Nyangweso, David Karoki, James Mwangi, Prof. Sam Kinyanjui, Livingstone Njoora,Frederick Macharia, and John Mbogo.

They were received by Managing Committee Chairman David Mureithi, OSS President Danny Ochieng, and GMET Chairman Noah Melly, who applauded this inspiring act of generosity.

Once again, hongera to the Class of 1987/89 for this outstanding act of generosity and highly recommend the model to be emulated by other class groups
