KENYA IS ASSEMBLING MORE VEHICLES.
Kenya’s vehicle assembly numbers are continuing to move in the right direction.
According to the latest KNBS data:
• 1,485 vehicles assembled in June 2026
• 6.4% increase from May’s 1,396 units
• Year-to-date assembly is up 20.8% compared with the same period in 2025
And there is more happening behind those numbers.
Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers recently commissioned a new Toyota Hiace assembly line at its Thika facility, backed by a KES 2.3 billion investment from CFAO Mobility Kenya.
The bigger story is the direction of travel.
For years, Kenya's automotive market has been heavily dependent on imported vehicles. More local assembly could mean greater investment in manufacturing, skills, technology, jobs and the wider automotive supply chain.
Kenya isn't just becoming a market for cars.
We're increasingly becoming a place where they're built too.
Kenya assembled a record 10,221 vehicles in Jan–Jul 2026, up 31.2% YoY, driven by tax incentives, government orders, new models and EV investment.
