ROAD SAFETY DURING FLOODINGS

Road safety during flooding is crucial to prevent accidents, injuries, and fatalities. Here are some tips to stay safe while driving in flood conditions:

1.Avoid Driving in Flooded Areas: If possible, avoid driving altogether when there's flooding. Flash floods can occur quickly and unpredictably.
2.Don't Drive Through Flooded Roads: Even if the water looks shallow, it can hide deeper sections or strong currents. Just 6 inches of water can sweep a person off their feet and a foot of water can move a car.
3.Stay Informed: Keep track of weather alerts and updates from local authorities. Be aware of potential flood-prone areas along your route.
Turn Around, Don't Drown: If you encounter a flooded road, turn around and find an alternative route. It's safer than risking your vehicle and your life.
4.Watch for Hidden Dangers: Flooded roads can hide debris, downed power lines, or holes. These can cause damage to your vehicle and harm you.
5. Maintain a Safe Distance: Keep a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid collisions or accidents caused by sudden stops or skidding.
6. Check Your Brakes: After driving through water, test your brakes gently to ensure they work properly.
7.Watch for Hydroplaning: Slow down to avoid losing control due to hydroplaning, especially in heavy rain.
7. Stay Inside Your Vehicle: If your vehicle stalls in water, stay inside unless water begins to rise rapidly. Call for help.
