Hydraulic brake booster uses a pump motor to generate the large hydraulic pressure required to ease the amount of effort applied on the brake pedal during braking, unlike a regular brake booster that uses engine vacuum to generate the pressure.
It consists of the master cylinder, reservoir tank, brake actuator, pump, pump motor and accumulator.

The Engine depends on various Sensors for it's optimum performance.
When these sensors fail, Engine performance will be affected, Check Engine Light will be illuminated and the engine might fail to start.
Some of them include;
1. Mass Air Flow Sensor(MAF)
It is located before the intake manifold and after the air cleaner compartment on the intake hose.
It measures the amount of air coming through the intake.
2.Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor(MAP)
It measures the pressure inside the manifold.
It works the same as boost pressure found in turbo charged engines.
3. Intake Air Temperature Sensor.
It monitors air intake temperature.
It can either be located separately on the intake hose or integrated into the Mass Airflow Sensor.
4. Oxygen Sensor/Lambda Sensor.
It measures the air fuel mixture from the exhaust.
It also measures the effectiveness of the catalytic converter.
5. Engine oil Level sensor.
Most modern cars are equipped with this sensor to measure the amount of engine oil in the sump before the engine is started.
If they detect low oil level, they illuminate a warning on the dashboard and the engine will not start.
6. Engine oil pressure sensor.
They are located either on the engine block or near the oil filter and are used to measure oil pressure.
7. Coolant Temperature Sensor.
It monitors coolant temperature and control the electric cooling fan.
8. Coolant level sensor.
It is mostly found in modern vehicles to monitor coolant levels. If the levels are low, it will illuminate a warning light and the engine might fail to start.
9. Fuel pressure sensor.
It is located on the fuel line/rail and is used to monitor fuel pressure. Too much fuel pressure will cause rich mixture while low fuel pressure will result to lean mixture.
10. Throttle Position Sensor.
In modern vehicles, the accelerator pedal and the throttle body are electronically connected.
The Throttle Position Sensor tells the ECU the exact angle of the valve's flap.

Brake Disc Skimming? What Is It

Brake disc skimming is a process of machining the surface of a brake disc to restore it to its original condition and improve braking performance. Here's an overview of when and why brake disc skimming is done:

Brake fluid DOT refers to the Department of Transportation (DOT) standards that brake fluids must meet to ensure their safety and performance. There are several DOT brake fluid standards, including DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5, and DOT 5.1. These standards define the minimum specifications for the chemical properties and boiling points of brake fluid.

DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluids are glycol-based and are commonly used in most vehicles. DOT 5 brake fluid is silicone-based and is typically used in high-performance vehicles. DOT 5.1 brake fluid is similar to DOT 3 and DOT 4 but has a higher boiling point, making it suitable for high-performance and heavy-duty vehicles.

It's important to note that brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture over time, which can lead to decreased boiling points and reduced braking performance. As a result, brake fluid should be changed according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule to maintain optimal braking performance and safety.

Brake fluid is used to transfer force into pressure.
It is incompressible to increase effectiveness.
Due to its high boiling point and low freezing point, brake fluid can be used in all weather conditions and not loose its function.
Since it's hygroscopic, it absorbs moisture from the system.
Over time, moisture absorbed leads to brake system failure due to the formation of vapor(bubbles) and corrosion on metallic parts of the system.
When good, the brake fluid should be light yellow in colour and turns dark brown when it ages.
It is recommended that aged brake fluid should be flushed after every 70,000km to avoid brake failure; assuming that there is no fluid leak or air in the system.

How The Steering Angle Sensor Works.

A steering angle sensor is a devices that measures the angle of the steering wheel and its rate of turning. Steering angle sensors are used in cars and trucks to help maintain traction while driving. They can also be used to monitor driver behavior and to assist in automated parking systems. In this blog post, we'll answer the question: "How does a steering angle sensor work?" We'll also discuss the benefits and drawbacks of these devices.

The Rack And Pinion Steering System.

A rack and pinion steering system is a type of steering system that uses a rack and pinion to convert the rotational motion of the steering wheel into linear motion. This linear motion is then used to turn the wheels of the vehicle.
Rack and pinion steering systems are typically used in vehicles with front-wheel drive, as they offer a more direct connection between the steering wheel and the wheels. This direct connection results in more precise steering and easier maneuverability, especially at lower speeds.

Engine Overheating: Causes and Prevention.

Engine overheating is a common issue that affects cars and trucks, and can cause serious damage to the engine if not addressed promptly. Engine overheating occurs when the engine temperature rises above its normal operating range, usually as a result of a malfunction in the cooling system. If you suspect that your vehicle's engine is overheating, it is important to identify the cause and take action to prevent further damage.
