The Peugeot’s "wet belt" is a notorious feature of the 1.2 PureTech engine found in Peugeot 208, 2008, 308, and 3008 Models. The timing belt runs fully submerged in oil. The idea was to reduce friction and noise but the oil environment causes the belt to degrade quickly.
Therefore you must be extra sensitive with matters of service:-
1. Inspect and change the belt if it shows any signs of wear and clear the oil sump for any debris.
2. Use the manufacturer's recommended oil.
3. Check out for the check Engine light, fluctuating oil pressure & rough idling.
