This is how many Kenyans are tricked into buying non-existent cars in Mombasa online !! 🚘

1. Scammers go to pages of existing showrooms and download photos of cars stocked there.

2. They go ahead to create a Facebook or Instagram page and take up a name of an existing showroom.

3. On the page they post the cars at prices that are too cheap/ too good to be true.

4. Many unsuspecting Kenyans enquire about the cars and they are told to "reserve" or pay them deposit which is below purchasing price from overseas before travelling to get them since the cars are in demand. They also offer to deliver the cars to your doorstep.

5. Once you transfer money to their accounts, their phone lines go silent.

6. The scammed individual makes a desparate attempt to go look for that particular showroom in Mombasa and when they get there, they find out that these individuals impersonate the real showrooms and with that, their money goes down the drain.

Before you buy a car, be vigilant; do not pay or reserve a car that you have not seen. Always ensure you visit the showroom physically and ensure you speak to the management.

Lastly remember, when the deal is too good; think twice.
