The 80 Series, in one of its most iconic forms.

This 1993 HDJ81V VX Limited is powered by Toyota’s legendary 1HD-T 4.2L turbo-diesel inline-six — the engine that helped define the early diesel 80 Series.

Originally offered in Japan, this particular example was finished in a blue-gray / Anvil Gray repaint and given a simple, purposeful touring setup: lifted suspension, Pro Comp wheels and Open Country M/T tires.

Nothing too extreme. Just the classic 80 Series formula with a little more stance and capability.

Inside, it keeps the unmistakable early-’90s Land Cruiser character — right-hand drive, dark leather seating, simple controls and that wonderfully mechanical Toyota feel. Under the hood sits the 1HD-T, matched to an automatic transmission and full-time 4WD.

It’s exactly the kind of build that explains why the 80 Series still has such a following more than three decades later: solid axles, serious capability, huge durability and just enough comfort to go a very long way.
