Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) is an extra pair of eyes when changing lanes. It helps detect vehicles beside and slightly behind your Toyota—areas that can be difficult to see in your mirrors.
How it works:
1. Radar sensors monitor nearby vehicles on either side.
2. A warning light illuminates in the corresponding side mirror when a vehicle is detected.
3. If you signal toward that vehicle, the light flashes to draw your attention. Toyota’s explanation
For example, a car approaching beside your right rear corner can trigger the right mirror warning, reminding you to wait before moving right.
Important: BSM is a warning aid, not a guarantee that the lane is clear. Always check your mirrors and look over your shoulder. Availability and operating conditions vary by Toyota model and year.
