ポルシェ用のボルグワーナー製E-Turbo(電動ターボチャージャー)が入荷しました!

A BorgWarner E-Turbo for Porsche has arrived!
From a turbo specialist’s perspective, this technology is genuinely impressive.
Instead of the conventional 3.0L twin-turbo setup, the new system combines a newly developed 3.6L flat-six engine with a single E-Turbo. A compact electric motor of around 20 kW is integrated between the compressor and turbine housings, allowing the compressor to be driven directly before sufficient exhaust flow has built up.
As a result, the time from full throttle to maximum boost has been reduced from more than 3 seconds to less than 1 second.
Another major point is that there is no wastegate.
At high engine speeds, the electric motor switches to generator mode and applies load to the turbine shaft in order to control turbo speed, with a maximum rotational speed of 125,000 rpm. The recovered electrical energy is then sent back to the battery and electric drive motor.
Boost pressure has also increased significantly, from 1.28 bar to 1.80 bar.
Rather than wasting excess exhaust energy, the system recovers it. In principle, this is very similar to the thinking behind Formula 1’s MGU-H technology.
And this is only the beginning.
This technology has already appeared in the 911 Turbo S, delivering a total system output of 701 PS and achieving a Nürburgring lap time 14 seconds faster than its predecessor.
The traditional compromise of a large turbocharger — strong top-end power but delayed response — is being fundamentally changed. Seamless boost response from low engine speeds is becoming a reality.
At GCG, we supply leading forced-induction technology from global brands including BorgWarner, Garrett, and Turbosmart to customers in Japan.
Technology developed at the cutting edge of OEM engineering eventually influences the aftermarket as well. As turbocharging enters the E-Turbo era, we will continue following these developments as turbo specialists.
