The only thing this situation is exposing is how easily people can be influenced by information on social media without first doing proper checks.
Mr. Wise Guy, if you believe everything Sam is saying, then by all means, give him your money—but before handing over your hard-earned cash to ANYONE claiming to be in the motor vehicle business, do your due diligence.
Instead of attacking the people raising questions, watch all six videos—or watch the complete video on YouTube—and listen carefully to what is actually being said. Then verify the information for yourself.
I have tried to warn people. At this point, everyone is responsible for protecting their own money.
Before doing business, simply ask Sam these questions:
1. Where is your registered dealership located?
2. How many vehicles do you currently have in stock, and where can customers physically view them?
3. Do you hold a valid motor vehicle dealer's licence? If yes, show it.
4. If you do not hold a dealer's licence, which licensed dealership or consignee handles your vehicle imports and transactions?
5. You reportedly stated that you have sold vehicles for less than you purchased them for. Can you explain how that business model works and provide the figures to support it?
6. Do you know or have you conducted business with Montana Auto & Sales? If yes, what was the nature of that relationship?
7. Can you show the official import/Customs entry documentation for the silver Toyota Mark X and the BMW X6 you said you purchased or imported?
These aren't complicated questions. A legitimate business transaction should be supported by verifiable documentation.
And understand something else: he is not automatically a "threat" to established Jamaican car dealers simply because he discusses importing vehicles online. Vehicle importation and sales are regulated activities, and the relevant licensing, importation and Customs documentation can be checked.
Don't take my word for it. Don't take his word for it either.
