More than 30 million people in Europe are estimated to be blind or visually impaired.

White canes and guide dogs remain essential, but some urban mobility challenges persist, from navigating open spaces without tactile references to detecting obstacles at mid-height.

Driving Blind is an Italdesign proof of concept that combines smart glasses, environmental perception technologies and audio feedback to complement existing mobility aids.

Its development draws on more than 200 interviews with blind and visually impaired people and early user testing conducted in partnership with Associazione Insuperabili.

Our new whitepaper, “Driving Blind: Restoring Autonomy and Safety to Visually Impaired People”, explores the research, development process and technical feasibility demonstrated by the prototype.

Honda 本田技研工業 approved the NSX Tribute by Italdesign. Not as a commercial formality. As an assessment that the car is a coherent extension of the model's identity.

That distinction is significant: Italdesign was not modifying a vehicle. It was creating a new product in which Honda's identity and Italdesign's integration capability are jointly present.

The capabilities this project required are not automotive-specific. Wherever a project demands design intent, engineering constraints and production logic to converge from the start, the same system applies.

Different eras. Different expressions of performance. One shared passion.

On September 26 and 27, the Zerouno coupé, the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign and the Honda NSX Tribute by Italdesign took part in Festivalcar, the Concours d’Elegance held between Castello Cavour in Santena and Revigliasco Torinese.

Alongside them, a special guest: the Volkswagen Golf GTI, celebrating 50 years of combining sporting character with everyday practicality.

The line-up also featured Rapida, created in collaboration with IED.

A weekend that brought different chapters of automotive design together, in the company of those who share our passion.

Making everyday mobility more accessible was the ambition behind WheeM-i, Italdesign’s concept that later evolved into Avathor One.
