From Turin 1959 to today.

At Classiche Masters, we are proud to present the Maserati 3500GT Vignale Convertible prototype (chassis AM101*505*), designed by Giovanni Michelotti and unveiled at the 1959 Turin Motor Show, now recognised as the 100th car to receive the Certificate of Authenticity from Maserati Classiche.

This milestone reflects the continued commitment of Maserati Classiche to preserving the heritage of the House of the Trident, and marks the very origin of Maserati’s open-top grand touring tradition.

These photos were taken in April 2026 at Parco Ducale in Modena, only a short walk from the historic Maserati factory. This is the very same location where the car was photographed before being shown for the 1959 Turin Motor Show.

Between 2023 and 2026, Classiche Masters led a meticulous restoration of the car in and around Modena. The objective: to return the prototype to the exact configuration in which it was presented in 1959, guided by factory archives, historical documentation, and the expertise of those who continue to safeguard the brand’s legacy.

The project was realised together with Francesca Tralli and Paolo Molinari (Classiche Masters), with bodywork by G.A. Restauri, finishing and paint by Carrozzeria Meschiari, and interior craftsmanship by Andrea Maieli. Classiche Masters worked in close collaboration with Maserati Classiche throughout the process. The historical research and authenticity of the project were further strengthened by the invaluable contributions of Adolfo Orsi Jr., Ivan Ruiz and Borrani, alongside many others who contributed their knowledge and dedication.

From 16 to 19 April 2026, the prototype returns to the spotlight at the Anantara Concorso in Rome, where it will be presented among some of the most significant Italian automobiles ever built. A fitting stage for a prototype that continues to define Maserati’s identity, from its origins to the present day.

Ewan Clark, a lifelong Maserati devotee and owner of more than twenty examples spanning several eras of the marque, has lived and breathed the Trident for decades. Yes, collecting, but also driving, maintaining and preserving these cars exactly as they were intended.

After personally taking his Quattroporte to Modena for Maserati Classiche Certification, Ewan is now organising shared transport for fellow owners who would like to follow the same path and have their cars certified at the factory. His first-hand experience of the process is documented in Alfieri Magazine, Edition 9.

This is a wonderful opportunity to coordinate logistics with an experienced enthusiast who understands both the practicalities and the emotional significance of the journey.

Estimated departure: Late March or April 2026
Duration: Cars will remain at the factory for approximately two months while the Classiche Certification process is completed

He is currently looking for 2–3 additional cars to complete the lorry (6-car capacity).

Ewan is not on Facebook, so if you are interested or would like further details, please contact him directly at:
[email protected]
He will be happy to provide full information and answer any questions.

= The Khamsin Archive has found a home inside Maserati Classiche =

Since September 2025, when Mark Sonery passed away, stories have surfaced about his character and the depth of his knowledge. This is one of them, adding to the mystique of the man.

In 2021–2022, Mark donated his extraordinary Khamsin Archive to Maserati Classiche, a decades-long research effort devoted exclusively to the Maserati Khamsin. Chassis by chassis. Owner by owner.

After donating the archive, he continued refining it. Through direct emails to Fabio Collina at the Maserati archive, he kept feeding the system with ownership changes, restorations, technical notes, and discoveries. Even in August 2025, he was still sending updates. We have seen the digital folders. It is extensive. Structured. Impressive.

Today, Marc's Khamsin Archive lives on within Maserati. It remains one of the strongest single-model archives ever assembled by an independent historian. Yet in a way, it is now paused or frozen in time at August 2025, the moment of his final contributions.

And that is where the Maserati community comes in.
If you are a Khamsin owner or restorer with verified information, ownership updates, restoration details, period photos, and factory documentation, please consider sharing it with Fabio Collina at the Maserati archive. By doing so, you help continue the work Mark built over many, many years.

That is how his archive stays alive.

Classiche Masters journey since 2019, from passion to preservation.

What began as a straightforward commitment to support and uphold Maserati's heritage has evolved into a complete ecosystem: the Classiche Masters book, storytelling through Alfieri Magazine, curated sales built on transparency, and restoration consultancy focused on accuracy right through to certification guidance. And do not forget our Mistral 60 event, celebrating Frua's masterpiece in the Black Forest.

👉
It's a quick read, but it captures the bigger truth: Maserati's legacy is a living archive, written one car, one document, and one connection at a time.
