Guidi Srl

RINA, Lloyd’s Register, TÜV, DNV, UL: why they matter

In the technical and marine sector, certification bodies play a key role.
They deal with:
– testing
– inspections
– certifications
– naval classification
– technical consulting

They are not just “marks” to display.
👉 They are bodies that verify requirements, safety, and compliance.

Hose connectors: sealing depends on the connection

Below the waterline, even a connection that appears simple deserves attention.
The hose, hose connectors and clamping system must be compatible with one another. Incorrect diameters, forced couplings or improper installation can compromise the seal.
The issue is that a connection may appear stable when installed and behave differently over time, when vibration, temperature and real operating conditions come into play.

👉 Below the waterline, component quality is not enough. How it is connected matters too.

Who certifies the certifiers?

To obtain an ISO certification, a company must rely on a certification body.
This body is an independent third party.
Its role is to verify, through audits, that processes, systems, or products comply with requirements defined by regulations, rules, or certification standards.

👉 Certification has value because it is verified by independent parties.

Tighter does not mean better installed

When a connection has to seal, increasing the tightening force can seem like the safest solution.
It is not always the case.
Excessive force can compress a gasket incorrectly, stress the seat or alter the coupling between components.
Alignment and installation sequence also matter: a connection may pass the first check and reveal the problem only after vibration and operating cycles.

👉 Correct tightening is not maximum tightening. It is the tightening specified for that connection.

Through-hull fitting: a critical point in the hull ☝🏻

A through-hull fitting is any fitting designed to allow liquids or gases to pass through the hull.
It is a simple component only in appearance. In reality, it must guarantee:
– secure connection
– watertight seal
– long-term resistance
– stability even with connected components

👉 A through-hull fitting is not just a hole in the hull. It is a technical point that must be designed correctly.

Guidi and ISO certifications

Guidi has obtained:
– ISO 9001 for quality management
– ISO 14001 for environmental management
– ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety

These certifications concern the design and production of bronze, brass, aluminum, and steel items through machining, testing, and assembly.

👉 Quality is not only declared. It is organized, controlled, and certified.

ISO 9093:2020: why it matters

The ISO 9093:2020 standard concerns through-hull fittings, seacocks, hose fittings, fittings, and their installation on small craft.
We are talking about boats with hulls up to 24 meters.
It is not a generic standard: it defines technical requirements for components that work in critical points of the hull.

👉 Where water passes through the hull, design cannot be approximate.

2300AE: motorizing the valve does not mean replacing it

Adding electric actuation to an existing system does not necessarily mean modifying the hydraulic side.
The 2300AE is a plug-and-play electric actuator, available in 12V and 24V, that installs directly on the body of the 2300 valve in place of the manual lever.
The valve stays installed. The fittings stay installed. What changes is how the valve is operated. And if power is unavailable, the valve can still be operated manually through the override.

👉 Automation adds a control option without requiring valve replacement.
