The 2026 Dolphin 81 Italian Championship came to a close after three intense and highly competitive days on Lake Garda, once again confirming its status as a key event for the class.

Challenging and variable conditions, combined with a strong fleet, kept the results open until the very last race, with several lead changes throughout the series. In the end, it was “Twister Sterilgarda” owned by Flavio Bocchio and helmed by Mattia Polettini that claimed the title, rewarded for their consistency and solid performance across the entire championship.

Behind them, “Marahute” by Luca Bovolato and “Achab” by Luca Nassini completed the podium after a close battle that lasted until the final legs. Rounding out the top five were “Back In Black” by Francesco Anselmi, helmed by Alessandro Archetti, and “Ociesse” by Gianni Giordo.

The event also saw strong participation from young sailors, with U25 teams experiencing the Dolphin 81 for the first time—highlighting the vitality and future of the class.

Maxi Dolphin is proud to have supported an event that brought together competition, passion, and team spirit in one of the most iconic sailing venues in the world.

Some of the most renowned names in yacht design have left their mark on Maxi Dolphin builds.

From the refined lines of Axel de Beaufort to the performance-driven thinking of Botin & Partners, from the vision of Guillaume Verdier to the timeless elegance of Germán Frers — each project reflects a dialogue between design excellence and craftsmanship.

Designers such as Alejandro Bottino, Luca Brenta, Bruce Farr, Finot-Conq, Pierre Frutschi, Harry Miesbauer, Mark Mills, Nauta Design, Ettore Santarelli, Roberto Starkel and Bill Tripp have all contributed to shaping yachts that are as distinctive as the people behind them.

Different signatures. One philosophy: building yachts where design and construction meet at the highest level.

Last night in Rome, one of the most significant events in Italian sailing took place: the Velista dell’Anno, promoted by the Federazione Italiana Vela.

For Maxi Dolphin, this has become a long-standing commitment. Being an official sponsor of the event means actively supporting the future of our sport.

Also in attendance was CEO Luca Botter, highlighting the strong and direct connection between the shipyard and the world of high-performance sailing.

Seeing so many young athletes take the stage, with passion and determination, is the clearest sign of a sport that continues to grow, evolve, and look ahead.

We are proud to be part of this journey.
