📌Exceptional 1995 Bentley Continental S, one of the most exclusive and rare models ever produced by the Crewe manufacturer during the 1990s.

This example is number 5 of a total production of only 39 units worldwide, making it an extremely rare and highly collectible automobile.

👉Of the total production:
21 examples were built in right-hand drive (RHD)
18 examples were built in left-hand drive (LHD)
Left-hand drive examples destined for continental Europe are therefore particularly sought after.

📜History and provenance

The car was delivered new in Monte Carlo, one of the most prestigious markets for high-end Bentley automobiles.
In 2006 it was imported into Italy, where it has had only three actual owners since then.
The last owner purchased the car from a well-known Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialist, who carried out a full service in 2021 at 44,348 km.

Since then the car has covered only about 1,000 km.
The presence of the Bentley Full Specification Details Report officially certifies the car’s original configuration and specifications, an essential element for historical authenticity and collector value.

👉The Bentley Continental S was introduced in 1995 as a high-performance evolution of the Continental R, already regarded as one of the most luxurious grand tourers of its era.

The Continental R was the first Bentley with a completely unique body design since the 1960s, marking the return of the brand to producing large, hand-built luxury grand touring coupés.
The S version was produced in an extremely limited series for Bentley’s most demanding clientele seeking even higher performance and exclusivity.

📌Produced between 1955 and 1962, the TR3 achieved significant success, particularly in the United States. However, well-preserved and fully certified examples are increasingly rare today. Early production models like this 1955 example are especially sought after for their purity of design and mechanics.

The combination of:

matching chassis and engine numbers
official certifications
fully documented restoration
participation in prestigious historic events
makes this car highly desirable for discerning collectors.

NOTES

Recently imported to Italy from France, the car has undergone a complete, top-level restoration carried out by a renowned Italian specialist.

🛠️The restoration is exceptional in every respect:

bodywork
mechanical components
upholstery
electrical system
All work was performed by highly skilled craftsmen and supported by extensive photographic documentation covering every stage of the process.

👉Following the restoration, the car participated in the 2023 1000 Miglia and the 2024 Coppa delle Dolomiti (Coppa delle Dolomiti), covering only a very limited number of kilometers.

To qualify for the 1000 Miglia, the car underwent strict inspections by ASI and FIVA committees, obtaining the certifications required for inclusion in the official registry—an essential prerequisite for participation.

The car is also accompanied by a detailed appraisal issued by Federperiti, certifying its value and thoroughly documenting all historical details.

📌OPEL 1900 GT GROUP 4 CONRERO – 1970 , 1 OF THE 4 OFFICIAL CONRERO TEAM

👉The Genesis and the Challenge to Porsche

In 1970, the Italian Opel DELER Romano Artioli entrusted Virgilio Conrero (nicknamed “the Magician”) with the task of transforming the small and elegant Opel GT into a true “giant killer.” The declared goal was to counter the dominance of the Porsche 911 in national and international competitions.

Despite initial skepticism—due to the fact that the Opel GT had not yet been homologated in Group 4 and initially had to compete as a prototype—Conrero managed to achieve a technical miracle. The 1900 engine was increased from 90 hp to over 180–190 hp (later versions reached 225 hp) thanks to the adoption of special cylinder heads, Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, and meticulous balancing.

🔹Giampaolo Benedini and Success at Mugello

The example with license plate MN 150252 is historically linked to Giampaolo Benedini, a driver and architect from Mantua (also known for later designing the factory and the aesthetics of the Bugatti EB110).

1970: At the Mugello Circuit (the original road course), Benedini drove this Opel GT masterfully, winning the Group 4 2000 class. It was a crucial victory that demonstrated how the “small European Corvette” could actually outperform the Porsche 911 S.
Targa Florio: Although MN150252 was already a protagonist in 1970, the Conrero–Opel GT pairing reached its peak the following year (1971) at the Targa Florio with the Calascibetta–Monti crew, who prevailed over numerous factory and private Porsche entries.
