The rich history of MG began nearly 90 years ago in 1924.

The famous initials we know and love were chosen by Cecil Kimber, the founder of MG. Kimber chose the letters as a "nod" to William Morris, his employer, and the owner of Morris Garages. Kimber, didn't just come up with our name. He also created the first line of MGs. He started out by fitting coach-built tourer bodies to the Morris Cowley chassis, creating cars known as the Morris Garage Chummys.

A few years later, in 1924, he designed the 14/28 Super Sports model, the first true MG, and the car that premiered the octagonal logo which has journeyed with us ever since.

MG M-Type

این مدل ماشین که به 33/8 نیز معروف شده بود در سال 1928 در Motor Show London رونمایی شد. ماشینی که با سواری عالی و قیمت مناسب یک انتخاب عالی بود.
این ماشین دو در اسپرت از موتور ارتقا یافته 4 سیلندر مخروطی و میل بادامک بالاسری و کاربراتور تک SU استفاده میکرد که می توانست قدرت 20 اسب بخار را در دور 4000 تولید کند.
ولی این پایان کار MG M-Type نبود در سال 1930 این ماشین تغییرات اساسی در سیستم ترمز و همچنین بهینه کردن میل بادامک و جایگزین کردن جعبه دنده 4 سرعته به جای جعبه دنده 3سرعته توانست قدرت موتور را به 27 اسب بخار افزایش دهد که این موتور می توانست سرعت 130 کیلومتر بر ساعت را تولید کند.
در مسابقات نیز موفقیت های چشمگیری بدست آورد، مدال طلا در مسابقات Land’s End شخصی و تیمی و کسب مقام اول در مسابقات Double Twelve در بروکلند.
