How does a turbo engine work? 🚗💨
A car engine works through a 4-stroke mechanism:
1. Intake – the piston moves down, drawing the fuel-air mixture into the cylinder.
2. Compression – the piston moves up, compressing the fuel-air mixture.
3. Power – the compressed mixture is ignited, pushing the piston down and generating power.
4. Exhaust – the piston moves up again, expelling the burnt gases from the cylinder.
In a turbocharged engine, these exhaust gases are not wasted. Instead, they are used to spin a turbine at high speed, which compresses the air entering the engine. With more air available, the engine can burn fuel more efficiently and produce more power and better performance without needing a bigger engine.
But here’s the important part ⚠️
For a turbo system to work properly, preventive maintenance is essential. Timely oil changes, clean filters, and regular inspections help prevent premature turbo wear, performance loss, and expensive repairs.
A small delay in maintenance today can turn into a major expense tomorrow.
