🚨 Identifying Common Tyre Defects – Safety Starts with Awareness!
Your tyres are the only contact point between your vehicle and the road, and even a small defect can seriously compromise safety, comfort, and performance.
Whether you manage a fleet or drive daily, regular tyre inspections can save lives and reduce downtime.
Here are some common tyre defects every driver and fleet operator should know 👇
🔹 Cracks:
Usually caused by ageing, UV exposure, or underinflation. Cracks weaken the rubber and can lead to air leaks or even blowouts.
🔹 Cuts:
Sharp objects or road debris can cause deep cuts in the tread or sidewall, increasing the risk of sudden tyre failure.
🔹 Bulges:
A visible bump on the tyre surface signals internal structural damage, often from impact or broken cords. Replace immediately!
🔹 Bead Problems:
Damage near the rim area can cause air loss or tyre slippage, usually from improper mounting or rough handling during installation.
🔹 Sidewall Damage:
Sidewalls bear the tyre’s strength. Any scrape, cut, or bubble here can quickly worsen under pressure or load conditions.
🔹 Separation:
When tread layers or plies detach due to excessive heat, ageing, or manufacturing faults, the tyre becomes unsafe for use.
💡 Tip: Regularly check tyre pressure, inspect for visible damage, and replace tyres that show any of these warning signs.
Remember, safety starts where the rubber meets the road. 🛞
