KTM Duke 390 White launched in India, with new features & updates

The KTM Duke 390 is now officially available in India, in white colour. This colour was previously reserved for the export market but now KTM has officially started selling it in India. The white-coloured Duke 390 has already begun reaching dealers.

Apart from the new paint scheme, KTM has also given the 2018 Duke 390 a few new features and updates. These features and updates will also be available on the Duke 390 with the orange paint scheme. The main change stylistic change on the white Duke 390 is that it’s fuel tank shroud is painted in white instead of orange. The rest of the bike is very similar to the one sporting the orange paint scheme.

In terms of new features and updates, the 2018 model year Duke 390s get a heat deflector plate mounted on the trellis frame. This plate’s function is to route hot air from the engine’s cooling fan away from the rider’s legs. The cooling fan of the radiator now operates faster to make engine cooling more effective while crawling in city traffic.

The 2018 Duke 390s also get software updates for the LED headlamps and the digital instrument cluster to iron out bugs and eliminate niggles that the 2017 Duke 390 owners have been complaining about. Apart from these changes,the Duke 390 remains mechanically unchanged.

The bike features a 373cc four stroke, single cylinder engine with liquid cooling, fuel injection, twin camshafts and four valves. This motor makes 43 Bhp of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 37 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. A 6 speed manual gearbox is standard on the bike, which also gets a slipper clutch.

ABS is standard, and is also switchable – a feature that most bikes don’t offer in the lower segments. It also gets a ride-by-wire throttle. The bike weighs 163 Kgs, and gets a 13.5 liter petrol tank. The Duke 390 with the white paint scheme retails for Rs. 2.97 lakhs, on-road Bangalore, and this price is inclusive of first year insurance.
