3rd-most interesting Ducati today: the Scrambler Cafe Racer. Because everyone wanted one. Better brakes, street 17" tyres.

We've seen plenty of customs like this already, and there seems to be some latent demand for the cafe style. The street wheels are a nice addition, allowing for a huge range of tyre choices.

Second-most interesting Ducati shown today: the Scrambler Desert Sled. Real off-road chops with tyres and fully-adjustable suspension.

That isn't some optical illusion; the front and rear suspension have 7.9 inches of travel, and Ducati were keen to point out that the entire frame has been reinforced to take the loads that the suspension is capable of. Swingarm also new. Tyres are specifically-designed Scorpion Rally STR with a 19" front and spoked rims. Handlebar is also more motocross style, as are the footpegs.

This is what most people expected the Scrambler to be. It will cost $11395 in the USA, so figure about 9-odd lac ex-showroom IF it ever comes to India. Doesn't sound too bad, actually.

Most interesting Ducati shown today: Multistrada 950. Most good bits from the Enduro, Hypermotard motor, lighter than the 1200.

Appears to get much of the electronics package, including the Enduro riding mode, but skips active suspension, wheelie control and cornering ABS. Gets the 19" front wheel for off-road tyre choice and fully-adjustable front and rear suspension. The Multistrada 950 will be configurable with 4 custom packages, for city, sport, touring or off-road duties. And theyre functional packages, not just cosmetic.

At 214kg wet, it's about 25kg lighter than a 1200 and a lot less powerful, but that sweet 113hp 937cc engine from the Hypermotard promises fun nevertheless. Biggest surprise: it appears to be CHEAPER than the Hyperstrada at $13995. Expect around ₹12 lac ex-showroom in India.
