QUALCOMM SNAPDRAGON 732G SOC TO ALLEGEDLY ARRIVE IN SEPTEMBER

In recent years, Qualcomm has been in a dominant position in mid-to-high-end mobile phone chips. However, as MediaTek Dimensity series unveils several best-selling 5G chips, its market share is rising. However, Qualcomm seems to be planning to launch more processors to enhance market competitiveness. According to recent reports, Qualcomm plans to launch a new mobile phone chip in September. This smartphone chip is called Snapdragon 732G.

As the name suggests, the Snapdragon 732G will be an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 730G. It will use the same architecture as the Snapdragon 730G, and will also use an 8nm process. The main frequency has been improved. The two A76 cores with a main frequency of 2.2GHz of the Snapdragon 730G have been upgraded to 2.3GHz. However, the 6 small A*5 cores with a main frequency of 1.8GHz and the Adreno 618 GPU remains the same.

Surprisingly, the Snapdragon 732G chip is still a 4G chip and does not support 5G networks. Nevertheless, it improves its AI capabilities. The chip will be released in Vietnam in September this year with a mobile phone that costs about $300.

Judging from current information, the Snapdragon 732G may outperform the Snapdragon 730G in single-core running points. However, the overall performance will not be much different from the Snapdragon 730G. Looking at the current situation in China, this chip will not get much attention in the world’s largest smartphone market. Presently, many Chinese companies no longer make 4G smartphones. This is a 4G chip thus it won’t be really attractive, at least in China.

Snapdragon 732G 4G chip – no official confirmation

At present, there is no official information from Qualcomm on the chip. If it will be released together with the mobile phone as stated in the report, then Qualcomm is not placing much importance on the chip.

We first came across this report from Twitter leakster, . Gooing through his profile, he seems to have much interest in leaks. However, we can not attest to the credibility of this leak. Since this chip comes with the “G” letter, we expect it to have some sort of gaming optimization.

Nevertheless, the lack of 5G support remains an issue. At this time where there is a rapid development of mid-range 5G chips, it is most unlikely that Qualcomm will fix its energy on a 4G chip. If anything, this chip could be an off-shoot of an on-going project.

ADOBE ADDS NOKIA 9 PUREVIEW LENS PROFILE TO ADOBE LIGHTROOM

Nokia 9 is camera-oriented device, which is clear from the moment the device was announced (even earlier if we count the leaks). It’s first of its kind offering a multi-camera system that works with all cameras at the same time and provides RAW files with up to 240MP of data and 1200 layers of depth, which is a record among smartphones.

To all Nokia 9 users, Nokia Mobile on setup recommends downloading the Adobe Lightroom app for RAW file editing right on the device. Nokia Mobile also announced that Adobe will shortly be including a lens profile for the Nokia 9 PureView and in the latest May update Adobe did that.

Lens profiles can be used to “correct common lens aberrations such as barrel and pincushion geometric distortion. Most lens profiles also correct for vignette, where the corners of an image appear darker than the rest of an image.” Overall, it should make the image better before you start editing.

Nokia 9 Pureview support from Adobe.com
We don’t have a Nokia 9 PureView so we cannot confirm or test any of this. Users on Reddit reported it was available after the latest Adobe Lightroom update and it’s mentioned on official Adobe pages.

If you have a Nokia 9 and/or you already played with Nokia 9’s lens profile, do tell us down below if you noticed any significant difference. 🙂
