🚨 **UPI IS CHANGING — BUT NOT THE WAY YOU THINK!** 📲
From **15 OCTOBER 2026**, a new UPI **MDR framework** will apply to certain merchant payments.
But before you panic about your next UPI payment… **READ THIS 👇**
💥 **PAY ₹2,000 OR LESS TO A MERCHANT?**
➡️ **NO MDR**
💥 **SEND MONEY TO FRIENDS OR FAMILY?**
➡️ **STILL FREE**
💥 **MERCHANT PAYMENT ABOVE ₹2,000?**
➡️ **0.4% MDR may apply to eligible transactions**
💥 **₹3,000 PAYMENT?**
➡️ MDR = **₹12** on the merchant side
💥 **₹50,000 PAYMENT?**
➡️ MDR = **₹200**
💥 **₹75,000 OR MORE?**
➡️ Maximum MDR = **₹300**
⚠️ **HERE'S THE PART MANY PEOPLE MAY MISS:**
This is **NOT a new UPI tax on customers.**
The MDR is a charge within the merchant-payment ecosystem. The government says customers should **not be charged separately** for it.
🏪 **SMALL MERCHANTS ALSO GET PROTECTION**
Eligible small merchants receiving up to **₹1 lakh per month through UPI QR** can continue with **zero MDR**.
📌 And according to the Government's clarification, around **96% of P2M transactions are expected to remain unaffected**.
So the real question isn't:
❌ “Will UPI become chargeable for everyone?”
It's:
👉 **“Which UPI transactions will actually attract MDR?”**
