A fake letter is being circulated on WhatsApp and in certain sections of the media causing panic among truck drivers and owners. The letter says that if any truck is caught overloaded, then its driver will be imprisoned for a minimum of six months, his DL will be cancelled for 3 years, FIR will be lodged against the owner and driver, and the consigner and consignee will be heavily penalized.

This is to clarify that the said letter is totally false and fake. No such letter has been issued by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. The Ministry has filed an FIR and sought investigation in the matter.

Indian Driving licenses to look same in all States..

Right now in India, look of driving license is not uniform across all of the states of the country.
Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced unified driving license and vehicle registration as a norm going forward. The development will be standard wef October 1, 2019. The simple idea behind the changes is having a driving licence that looks standard across the country. The move will include design changes as the new license is adapted across States so every driver has a similar looking DL or registration card.
