Here is what it looks like at 100 tonnes of input paper per month:

Paper cost: โ‚น30/kg average
5-ply conventional waste rate: ~10% of input = 10 tonnes wasted/month

If you are planning a corrugated box plant, here is the budget gap most people hit in year one.

Most investors calculate: machinery cost = plant cost.

It is not. A plant needs five things funded:

1. Machinery โ€” semi-automatic line from โ‚น20L, fully automatic from โ‚น2Cr+
2. Civil infrastructure โ€” shed, flooring, power connection, water. Adds 15โ€“25% on top of machinery cost. The number most people forget entirely.
3. Working capital โ€” 60 to 90 days of Kraft paper stock to keep the plant running while you build your client base. This is where new plants run into cash flow trouble.
4. Utilities setup โ€” 3-phase power sanction takes 6โ€“8 weeks. Apply before machinery delivery or face a 2โ€“3 month commissioning delay.
5. Contingency โ€” 8 to 10% buffer for installation overruns, freight, and regulatory costs. Every plant needs it. Very few budget for it.

Total picture: 40โ€“50% above machinery cost.
