We would like to thank the team at Classic Motorcycle Mecca for their custodianship of the Britten motorcycles and other assets trusted to their care for the last nine years. They built the biggest Britten display in the world and brought the Britten story to so many who greatly appreciated and enjoyed it. The Britten collection might have moved on but Mecca is still a five star motorcycle exhibition with a very wide selection of makes and models so do support them and treat yourself to a fantastic motorcycle experience.

The Classic Motorcycle Mecca team have farewelled the incredible Britten collection, which has been on display since 2016 👋.
It has been our privilege to showcase these incredible motorcycles. John Britten's story is known the world-over and it is only fitting this is told in a collection dedicated entirely to him. We cannot thank the Britten family enough for the honour of displaying these remarkable motorcycles for the past nine years and wish them and The Britten Museum all the best for the future.

The Britten Museum celebrates John’s vision, determination, entrepreneurship, and ingenuity - the very qualities that made John Britten a global icon and an enduring inspiration to Kiwis.

Extremely good news Britten fans, the long awaited new scale model Britten has now arrived and the first group are available for release. It has taken longer than expected but we are very pleased with the final result. This is a high detail very special item with over 200 individual parts, over 150 individual decals and a 25 page instruction book. There are two colour options within each kit and the choice of replicating a carbon fibre finish on appropriate panels or painting them black.

They are time intensive to produce so production isn’t as fast as we would like but this is intended to be a long term run and not a limited number release. Each model is individually numbered. We have an initial first run of 60 kitsets produced with the first 10 on hold. We have a waiting list of approximately 150 people going back several years who will be given a first option on a first in first served basis. They will be emailed directly and given the chance to purchase within a 7 day period and if they choose not to, then the option will be passed on to the next in line. The next run is anticipated to be available in 2 to 3 months. Once we have filled all prior orders, they will be available from our website store.

We have been conscious of keeping the price point as low as we can and the final result is that they will be priced at $795NZD plus postage. Postage costs are being currently investigated and some overseas countries may be subject to duties.

We thank everyone for their patience and will keep you updated on developments and availability. Here are a few photos of the new kitset and we hope to have completed bike photos soon.

Merry Christmas everyone and once again we would like to thank our loyal fans for their continued support. It’s been an eventful year marking the 30th anniversary of John leaving us back in 1995 and with the creation of the new Britten Museum opening in two months, there will be even more on offer to fans visiting Christchurch.

We wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas. (and will have more to advise on the new Britten scale model very soon)

Thanks to the Britten Museum and Half Light Photography for the great Santa Image.

Last year we all wondered, what will we do for 2025? September 2025 would mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of John Britten. Past anniversary events have been totally successful and unique and trying to come up with something as good or possibly even better was proving to be a tough order. Various ideas had been floated but nothing was really jumping out at us and time was ticking by.

Then early in 25 a knight in shining armour rode over the horizon with the idea of creating a new museum honouring the Britten story and the generous offer of financial assistance to make it all happen. This knight came in the form of Mike Pero, a well known Kiwi identity and six times NZ motorcycle champion. He assembled a small dedicated team and created a charitable trust to handle the museums affairs combined with gathering up a very generous group of donor companies offering products and services.

In September 2025, 30 years after John Brittens passing, the news was announced to a great reception globally. This was a fantastic thing not just for Britten fans around the world and the people of Christchurch but for New Zealand. The main theme isn’t just the Britten Motorcycle story but to show that you can live your dreams and create great things when up against big challenges.

We ask that you show your support by following the new museums page attached and watch it as it develops and comes to life. This is going to be something very special for us all.

Britten scale model update.
Here are the latest progress photos of the new bike prototype as it nears completion. It is still undergoing updates and we hope to have painted photos soon. You can see the fine detail in the smaller items and it will be offered with decals allowing builders to choose from either the traditional blue and pink or the yellow and black CR&S livery. There will also be the option to paint body parts black as before or use a carbon fibre decal set for that true authentic finish.

It will be available for purchase later this year and we are still working on final component costings so we don’t have a price available yet. More news in the near future.
