UM Global Renegade Commando Review
Overview
UM Global is on the fast track mode and wishes to make a successful entry into the Indian two wheeler market very soon. The American bike maker has imported few of its model for the launch, but the one which made curiosity in the bike lovers is the Renegade Commando. As the name describes, it's a battle style cruiser bike with a rough attitude.
Design & Style
The Renegade Commando looks exactly what its name defines. The low rider style of the motorcycle is most attractive part of it, with the vintage looks and massive looking body styling adding for more plus points. Several angles resemble Harley styling, but its front and back seems to be totally different. The first look will give you a glimpse of a retired world war machine, restored in order to keep a vintage bike alive, but the under tank story explains what all new it has within.
Engine & Performance
The Commando features a 223cc, single cylinder engine, which truly saying sounds very small for the visual you get by viewing it even once. It has 18 BHP output @ 8000 rpm and 15.5 NM @ 5500 rpm. It gets a 5-speed gearbox. The Renegade Commando has a 17.4 litres of fuel capacity and can go longer distances easily without refuelling often. The seat height of the bike makes it easier to control by a medium length rider also.
Brakes & Suspension
The Commando gets a single disc brake for the front and a drum braking system for the rear. The front suspension is handled by hydraulic telescopic forks whereas the rear gets a set of hydraulic spring type suspension. A 110/90-R16 tyre for the front and 130/90-R15 for the rear has been used. The motorcycle weighs just 127 kgs, making the fact clear that the looks clearly lie here. Even many 150 cc bikes would be heavier than the Commando.
Shades & Expected Price
UM Global will be offering its Renegade Commando in Midnight Camo, Super Blackout and Baja Desert shade with an expected price tag of INR 1,25,000.
