1954 MAGDYNAMO MODEL:

The timing case cover showed 70+ years of wear and tear & uneven surface when we had it polished for assembly! Here is me working on levelling it for re-polish. Working out a cosmetic upgrade!

Am I afraid of damaging the engine part? No I am not afraid!!!

In the background are two more engines of the same era. One converted to short delco and alternator type clutch-side settings. We will check that out at a later date!

PATTADAKAL FOR YOU:

In November 2025, we rode to witness the Royal Enfield festival Motoverse 2025 in Vagator Goa. On the way back we also rode to several historical locations in Karnataka and Maharashtra. These locations included Pune, Ellora, Badami, Aihole, Pattadakal & Hampi.

For those of you who haven't been following us, Sudhakar 73 and Sulekha 71. On an old cast iron Bullet 350 with an engine and structural design of 1959.

We did 3,450 kms in about three weeks on the road. A wonderful laid out road trip!

Pattadakal is a group of Hindu and Jain temples / monuments, built by the Chalukya Dynasty & also used by them as a Coronation Centre.

Some of the temples were built by the Queens of the ruling kingdoms to celebrate victories. From 7th / 8th century CE.

A must visit location!

THE ROYAL ENFIELD CLUBHOUSE, UTHANDI, CHENNAI:

The clubhouse hosts very interesting 'Stories from the Saddle'. This one featuring Rajith Cherian. A Group Long Distance Rider turned Adventure Motorcyclist, now leads groups and trains them in Off-roading techniques and training. Motorcycle-loads of experience and happy to talk about it. More importantly indulging in the rather youngish and dangerous sport at about 50 years of age!

The clubhouse hosts interesting speakers with loads of experience and amazing 'Stories from the Saddle' Do look up the events if you are in Chennai. Normally happens every fortnight or so!

BADAMI FOR YOU:

November last year (2025) we rode from Chennai to Goa to participate in the Motoverse 2025. On the way back we visited Pune, Ellora, Badami, Aihole, Pattidakal & Hampi. We then rode on to Bangalore and back to Chennai.

3,450 kms & 22 days. We really enjoyed this laid out road trip! For thos who haven't been following us: Sudhakar then 73 & Sulekha Sudhakar 71.

BELAGAVI: SUSHIM & CO:

On our way from Bangalore to Goa last riding season, we were to stop at Belagavi, stay overnight at Sushim & Sneha's place. The following day we were to review half a dozen RE current models to check out what was best for Older Riders. Sushim is a Dealer for Royal Enfield in Belagavi and a good friend.

The first photograph is outside Sushim's amazing home where we had breakfast with the family. It has two very vintage cars, including one on the first floor! From right to left are Anand Telkar on a Shotgun 650 (He has risked his life more than once recording us on the Ghats and riding with his throttle hand only!!!) the next two are Sneha and Sushim on a Classic 650, both motorcycles were just released by Royal Enfield.

In later photographs you see us in Gotadki motors and also a group shot of Anand, two of us, Sushim and Ananth who very patiently accompanied us thru the ghats and on to Vagator Goa to attend Motoverse 2025.

AVL SEAT PLATE:

The Thunderbird AVL 350 is normally a noisy motorcycle which cannot be easily restored as many of its important parts are not easily available, including the seat.

You see me here giving a twinspark seat new life and an AVL setting. With me, working with hand tools and machines is an old and acquired art, developed over half a century! If you do the same, always be cautious and prepared for all eventualities.

ELLORA FOR YOU:

In November last year (2025) we rode from Chennai to Goa to participate in the Motoverse 2025. We then visited several historical locations in Karnataka and Maharashtra on the way back including Pune, Ellora, Badami, Aihole, Pattidakal & Hampi on the way back 3,450 kms and about three weeks on the road. A wonderful road trip!

A hundred photographs cannot convey the grandeur the work of thousands of craftsmen, carving Ancient Architectural Masterpieces, designed by Ancient Architects, out of the solid rockface, more than a thousand years ago.

This is a peek into the magnificence of incomplete ELLORA for you!

SPRAYING A MATTE CLEAR COAT:

There are times when I inflict some operations on our most run motorcycle! This was one! And it turned out pretty well!

Looking forward to having the tank back on the motorcycle after a few months! Looking forward to some short rides too!

This motorcycle had been posted about two weeks earlier. This is what it looks now .

A shortage of funds keeps it from progressing at the pace we would like it to. Also adding to the delay is the fact that I keep changing minor details that stall the completion!

As it stands today! A magnificent 500 according to me! And a well thought about concept and ex*****on. Among the best CI 500 Cast Iron tourers for me!
