The motor is lower, but I still have no idea whether the serial one is 124,000 cubic meters with a volume of 1197 cubes or an experimental unit increased to 1438 cubic meters, which was originally prepared for the sale of the USSR. The features of the placement of the distributor and the oil filter are very clearly visible (it is attached from the bottom, and not docked to the side of the block, like in the VAZ-2101). Weber carburetor - for the USSR, with a falling flow (on the serial FIAT 124 it was horizontal). On the right mudguard, you can see a bracket for the second air filter, which was not installed on this machine. And it is also clear that a hydraulic clutch drive has already appeared here with the same separate reservoir as in the hydraulic brake drive. Moreover, the expansion tanks themselves are still "old-fashioned". Finally, pay attention to the electrical sensor in the lower radiator tank: it blocked the fan clutch when the temperature rises. We have already talked about this clutch in one of the previous parts of the article; it never got to the Soviet Zhiguli, since it demanded the purchase of a separate expensive license from the French.

Today's part will be devoted to the very first prototype of the VAZ-2102 station wagon, sent from Italy to the USSR in the spring of 1967. This is a rather curious specimen in terms of equipment: some of its components are like serial Fiats, some are already according to the Soviet specification.
