I thought I knew about all of the markets in the Tel Aviv area but apparently I was wrong. Every Wednesday afternoon from 4PM (16:00) a section of the Flea Market becomes a Farmer’s Market known as the Mipo Market. Not a large market but packed with various items, from food, coffee, flowers, someone selling eggs, another honey and another all types of liquor. And oh yeah, all types of fresh vegetables. Well worth a visit to see where locals buy their produce.

The Machane Israel neighborhood, settled by Moroccan Jews in the 1860s was the second neighborhood to be built outside the Old City walls. Although it is just behind the Waldorf Astoria hotel and close to Mamila and King David streets, it is very well hidden and most Israelis, let alone tourists, don’t know it exists. What a pity!
