We are looking for up to 2 Apprentices.
Position: Workshop Technician Apprentice
Job Description:
As a Workshop Technician Apprentice at Trackday Performance Ltd., you will have the unique opportunity to learn and grow in the world of high-performance automotive and motorsport. You will work closely with experienced technicians and play a crucial role in the maintenance and enhancement of top-end race cars, rally vehicles, rallycross supercars, F3, F3000, and other high-performance vehicles. We work extensively with the following brands and systems:
BMW M (S58 and other "S" engines): Full race engines and electronics.
Mitsubishi WRC (04-07): Complete vehicle preparation for competition, including electronics.
Garrett and Xona Turbocharger Systems and Accessories.
Cosworth: High-performance electronics and solutions.
Motec: Advanced electronic systems for racing.
Link: Engine management and tuning systems.
Haltech: Engine management and tuning systems.
Life Racing: Motorsport electronics and data solutions.
In addition to your core responsibilities, you will have the chance to develop and master a wide range of valuable skills and expertise, including but not limited to:
Welding (MIG, TIG) of Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum.
Wiring loom design, manufacture, installation, testing, and configuration of associated systems.
Engine building.
Fabrication.
Part design.
Suspension setup, development, and design.
Testing, race, and rally support.
ECU calibration, data logging, and data interpretation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Passion for cars and motorsport.
Strong desire to learn new skills and continuously expand knowledge.
Basic knowledge of physics and electronics.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows and Google web products (Gmail, Google Sheets, Docs).
Commitment to contributing to the company's growth and development.
Willingness to work 39 hours per week, with flexibility for race weekend support when necessary.
Own transport is a must.
Leaving Cert is highly desired but not absolutely necessary.
Excellent and clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with experienced technicians to learn and perform maintenance on high-performance race cars and rally vehicles.
Assist in installing various parts and components.
Learn to manufacture bespoke parts, wiring looms, and electronics using specialized systems.
Participate in the cleaning, inspection, measuring, dry build, and assembly of racing engines.
Continuously update knowledge and skills in the automotive and motorsport industry.
Collaborate with the team to ensure the success of Trackday Performance Ltd.
Additional Information:
This position may require occasional travel and attendance at races to provide support for vehicles you have worked on.
