EM1 Civic in for some maintenance
’99 Honda Civic EM1 in the workshop. These cars are getting older now and need proper mechanical attention if you want them to keep driving how they should.
This one’s in for some suspension work and a cylinder head refresh. Head’s been stripped, checked, resurfaced and pressure tested, then rebuilt with:
– New head gasket
– Skunk2 valve stem seals
– Skunk2 lost motion assemblies
– Valves lapped
– Rocker cover refreshed in Electron Blue Pearl
On these high revving B Series VTEC engines, the system is purely mechanical and oil pressure dependent, which is why things like valve clearances, oil condition, valve stem seals, and lost motion assemblies matter so much. If any of those are worn or incorrect, VTEC won’t engage cleanly or at all.
