Hello everyone.

Small announcement to make regarding VASS Motor Works. There is no change to the workshop as regards is operation and trading, we are still flat out, however as of today I will be leaving the company and Daniel, my mechanic of 11 years plus, is taking over.

It is a bittersweet moment as I grew the business from from a small unit in ballydaheen on the 28th March 2011 to the 10000sq ft unit that is here now. However for the last year or more I have lost the drive that is demanded to continue and feel it is time for me to step aside. Dan has the ambition, energy and enthusiasm to progress the company forward and I know you will all stay in full support of him and VASS Motor Works.

I would like to sincerely thank all the customers that have passed through our doors over the last 13 plus years and express my deep gratitude to them for their support. I would also like to thank my family, especially Siobhan, for tolerating me for the last 13 years through the ups and downs without who's support I would never have made it this far.

Finally I would like to wish Dan the very best in the future and I know that he will do an outstanding job driving the business forward.

Knowledge of German marques ideal but not essential. Knowledge of BMW Ista or ODIS also preferable. Good communication skills and clean Irish licence essential.

Worth a read if you have 5 minutes. Great to see the good old Skoda Octavia diesel estate up there with the best cars for lifetime carbon emissions. Lifetime being from the moment the first steel sheet of the new car is pressed to the point of the last piece of scrap metal of that same car has been recycled at its end of life.

March 28th 2011 we opened our doors and on our tenth birthday i would like to say a few thank you's.

Firstly, to our customers, without your support we would not have reached this milestone. I just want to say thank you for your custom and loyalty over the last 10 years.

I would like to say thanks to my mechanics Gavin and Daniel who do trojan work and are two great lads.

Lastly special thanks to my family and especially my wife Siobhan without whos support these 10 years would not have happened.

ISTA game changer!

Shown are the diagnostic interfaces required for the use of BMW's ISTA program. ISTA, which stands for Integrated Service Technical Application is BMW's diagnostic software program, which essentially means whatever a main dealer can do we can do.

We are currently waiting on a custom loaded laptop from the UK to arrive so as to get the system up and running which may take a few weeks but looking forward to see its capabilities.

You may also see a key reader in the photos below if you are familiar with bringing you car to BMW main dealers. We will also have this system set up so as to load all service history's onto your vehicle key when completed.

This will add to our dealer software for Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda. As we said, ISTA game changer.

As per government guidelines we will reopen, as scheduled, on Monday 4th January. All vehicle workshops are considered essential services.

Well, thank God thats nearly over.

The workshop will be closed until January 4th.

Special thanks to all our customers for your continued support, especially this year. Its been one to forget for all of us.

Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and a covid free/open pub/able to fly/able to hug/all meet up/ match attending/peaceful New Year, from all of us at VASS Motor Works.

SMALL BOX, BIG CAPABILITIES.

This is the VAS 6154A. It is used alongside Volkswagens ODIS diagnostic platform.

It is the genuine Volkswagen Group interface which can only be purchased and used once you are approved by the Volkswagen Group to use it on their branded vehicles. This essentially means that everything that a Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat ( or VASS for short 😉) main dealer can do, we can now do. Key coding, factory software updates , programming, control unit coding, etc all directly downloaded via the interface to VASS Motor Works from the Volkswagen Group.

This is, without question, the future of the independent garage. In 5/10 years car manufacturers will only allow diagnostic access to their new vehicles via manufacturer approved interfaces.

Its has taken time, money and a lot of jumping through hoops to get to this point, but this ensures that we are going to be around for a while yet. It will take another few weeks to complete training and hardware setup but the future is here.

COVID 19 CLOSURE

As per government instruction VASS Motor Works will temporarily close with immediate effect.

Unfortunately due to the restrictions imposed we will be unable to provide any emergency assistance while the lock down is in effect. Any breakdowns will have to dealt with your insurance company.

I will still be contactable at any time.

Ironically enough today, the 28th March, is VASS Motor Works 9th birthday. 9 years ago we opened in the middle of a recession, and I definitely did not think, of all the things a self employed person thinks, that a virus would bring a country to a grinding halt. But it has, and it needs to be taken very seriously.

We will be contacting all affected customers regarding the closure.

Look after each other, stay inside, wash your goddam hands! We will all beat this and come back stronger than ever.

⚠️⚠️⚠️COVID 19⚠️⚠️⚠️

We at Vass Motor Works are taking simple but effective steps to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.

➡️ Workshop staff will continue to wear heavy duty nitrel gloves from start of business to close of business each day with regular hand washing in between jobs as is standard.

➡️ Interior cabin contact surfaces will be cleaned down before and after work on vehicles.

➡️ Keys will also be cleaned down before and after work on individual vehicles.

➡️ Merchant terminals (Chip and PIN ) will be disinfected before and after each use.

➡️ Distance will be kept as much as possible from customers on drop off and collection.

➡️ If you are showing flu like symptoms and you vehicle is booked in for repair work, we would kindly ask that you cancel your booking via phone or email, look after yourself, and rebook at a later date.

➡️ We will remain open as normal unless instructed otherwise by the HSE, or if staff members start showing signs of illness.

➡️ All work performed at the workshop is currently strictly by appointment only or in the event of breakdowns. We will not be taking walk-ins so please dont arrive expecting work to be done if your vehicle is not booked in.

This is and will be a very testing time for our country, people and economy. Look after your yourselves, your elderly family members and neighbour's. Dont believe every post that is being put up on social media as 90% of it is completely false. Inform yourself and family members of the facts via the World Health Organisation www.who.int
