🔧 Timing Belt Day on a VW Golf🔧

A timing belt has one job...

And when it decides it's had enough, it usually takes the rest of the engine with it. 😅

This VW Golf was in for a timing belt and water pump replacement today—one of those jobs that's not very exciting until it's ignored.

The funny thing about timing belts is they rarely send a calendar invite before failing.

A few things that can indicate a timing belt may be due for replacement:
⚠️ Vehicle has reached its recommended mileage interval
⚠️ Belt is showing signs of cracking or wear
⚠️ Unusual noises from the timing cover area
⚠️ Oil contamination around the belt
⚠️ Service history doesn't show when it was last changed

Most timing belts don't fail because they're faulty...
They fail because they quietly pass their replacement date and keep going until they don't.

This Golf is now sorted with a fresh timing belt and water pump and is ready for many more miles on the road. 👌

🚗 "Can you do it any cheaper?"

It's something we hear regularly in the garage, and look—we completely understand. Everyone likes to save a few euro where they can.

But when it comes to window tinting, cheaper isn't always better.

Take a look at the photo below 👇
Those bubbles aren't a new design feature—they're the result of poor-quality tint and poor installation.

A bad tint job doesn't just look awful. Over time it can peel, bubble, discolour, and make your car look older than it is.

The bigger problem?
If that low-quality tint ever needs to be removed, the adhesive can be so aggressive that it pulls off your rear window heater lines along with it. Suddenly, what started as a "cheap tint" becomes an expensive repair.

Is your car going through diesel like a diesel train?

We had a bmw 5 series in today which was blowing diesel from its injectors. A quick diagnosis led to us replacing the injector seals to ensure a seamless fit, with no leaks.
