What is the wet belt?

The timing belt runs inside the engine oil ("wet belt"). Over time, the belt can degrade, shed particles into the oil, and potentially cause:

Oil pressure problems

Vacuum pump issues

Timing failures

Severe engine damage if the belt breaks
