We were delighted this week to recieve two fully Electric Vehicles, kindly donated by KEARYS RENAULT BELGARD

This Fluence was put into service straight away and included in some practical testing on this weeks IMI Level 3 course

The second vehicle was at its end of life so we removed the high voltage components for demonstration and testing purposes.

We now have three operating EVs in our fleet and two vehicles in pieces for demonstration along with various other individual components.

Cant wait to see what comes next😁

The first men from the Go-Ahead team to attend our course earlier this year. Always a pleasure to have the highly motivated Go-Ahead lads on board.

Since launching the courses in 2019 we have trained technicians from all sectors of the industry, from light vehicle main dealer techs to independent garage owners, fellow technical trainers and collage lecturers. Dublin Bus, Ardee Coach Trim, even Irish Rail, the Defence Forces and some from the aircraft industry.

It is very satisfying to meet these people from different sectors and find a common interest in the electrification of vehicles of all shapes and sizes.

As vehicles start to become greener and more environmentally friendly, Go-Ahead Ireland has begun to send all our engineers on an IMI Level 2 Electric and Hybrid Vehicle training course.

This has been designed with Baldoyle Training Centre and the DDLETB. Our Engineering Manager Ian Dixon was the first to attend and found the course a huge benefit and looks forward to levels 3 and 4 very soon.

With the growing number of Electric Vehicles on the roads today, Baldoyle Training Centre are proud to be in a position where we can offer FREE training to Vehicle Technicians of all kinds. Our EV courses were launched in 2019 with the goal of helping the Motor Trade stay up to date with the fast paced changes in technology. They are delivered by highly qualified trainers and are IMI accredited. Participants will receive real world training and gain internationally recognised qualifications but more importantly gain the knowledge and skills necessary to work safely while maintaining, repairing and diagnosing Hybrid and Electric Vehicle systems.

There are four levels of training available

Level 1 - Electric/Hybrid vehicle awareness. This course offers an introduction to this specialised industry sector. It is aimed at people in non technical roles and also open to anybody in the public who wants to gain an understanding of different types of EVs and best practices while owning, operating or working around these vehicles.
(Dates to be announced late 2022)

Level 2 - Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance. This course is aimed at technicians who have completed a minimum of Phase 2 in the National Apprenticeship or equivalent. Learners will be able to identify all the various types of EV configurations, identify the components that make up various high voltage systems, they will also gain practical skills and knowledge to enable them to make the vehicle safe in the workshop.

Level 3 - Vehicle System Repair and Replacement. This course is open to anybody that has completed Level 2. Learners will gain practical skills and test procedures to enable them to diagnose and replace High Voltage components. We also go into great detail on high voltage system component operation.

Level 4 - Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of High Voltage Systems and Components. This will be a fully immersed course focused on real world faults and how to diagnose them accurately (Coming 2023)

All of our courses are stand alone courses to maximise student contact time. This enables us to cover as much of this massive subject as possible and ensures learners achieve a good understanding.
