🔥 Home heating costs are really starting to bite. Looking at recent prices, even basic heating oil has jumped sharply in just a few weeks, a clear knock-on effect from global events.

🏡 It’s no wonder more people are now considering alternatives like wood fuel, stoves or pellet boilers to stay in control of their bills. With prices this unpredictable, it may be time to seriously think about more sustainable and stable heating options. 🌱

📊 Based on energy prices in Ireland (March 2026), replacing 500 litres of heating oil with wood fuel can be significantly cheaper. These figure are all approximate figures and vary considerably around the country.

• 🛢️ 500L Heating Oil: approx. €790 - €890

• 🌲 1 tonne of Firewood: approx. €300 - €500, to replace 500L oil you will need 1.3 tonnes of Firewood = €390 - €650

• 🌲 1 tonne Wood Pellets: approx. €400 – €550
⚡ 500 litres of oil (around 5,000–5,100 kWh) is roughly equivalent to 1 tonne of high-quality wood pellets.

• 🌲 1 tonne Wood Chip: approx. €170, to replace 500L oil you will need 1.6 tonnes of Wood Chip = €272

📉 Oil prices spiked by over 40% in early March due to instability in the Middle East, so the prices given here are prone to change.

For years I felt like I was living in survival mode.
On the outside everything looked normal, but inside it often felt like I was constantly fighting battles most people never knew existed.

Life has a way of testing you.

There were difficult relationships and years of slowly realising what narcissistic abuse can do to a person. Experiences like that can make you question your confidence, your judgment and even your sense of self.

At the same time there were business struggles. Trying to build something from nothing while carrying the weight of life in the background isn’t easy. Some days you feel like you’re moving mountains, other days you feel like you’re barely holding things together.

Then there are the losses that change you forever.

Losing my dad to su***de is something that will always stay with me. It leaves questions that never really get answered and a silence that never quite feels the same again.

For a long time I just kept pushing forward without really understanding why life felt harder for me than it seemed to for other people.

In recent years I started to learn more about myself and realised that many of the struggles I’ve had throughout life line up with inattentive ADHD.

Suddenly a lot of things made sense.

The constant racing mind.
The feeling of always being switched on.
The sense of living in fight mode while everyone else seems calm.

Understanding it didn’t magically fix everything, but it helped me stop blaming myself for things I didn’t understand before.

Despite everything, life also gave me moments I’m proud of.

I have the the most beautiful family and I’m lucky enough to be engaged to my best friend and she continues to prove to me each day how beautiful life can be & what a supportive partner and loving relationship should be like.

I built my business from the ground up.
I bought my own home.
I keep moving forward even during times when it would have been easier to stop.

The biggest lesson life has taught me is this.

Everyone you meet is carrying battles you know nothing about.

Some people just hide them better than others.

Struggles don’t have to define you. They can teach you, strengthen you and shape the person you become.

I’m still learning.
Still growing.
Still working on becoming a better man, a better partner and a better version of myself than I was yesterday.

If you’re going through your own battles right now, just know this.

Progress doesn’t always happen quickly.
It doesn’t always happen in a straight line.

Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is simply keep going.

And if you’ve made it this far in life, through everything you’ve faced, then you’re stronger than you probably realise.
