VW, AUDI, SKODA ,SEAT MODULE PROGRAMMING / COMPONENT PROTECTION REMOVAL:
Purchased a second hand part for your VW, Skoda, Seat or Audi vehicle?
If so then you may have discovered that the replacement module cannot be adapted to your car and will not work because it will have component protection activated.
Component Protection was first implemented in 2003+ A8 as well as 2005+ C6 A6 and 2009 A4/A5/Q5 as a security feature dedicated to prevent exchange of modules between different vehicles without central authorization from the VAG online database (dealer visit), also referred to as the GeKo system.
Such modules installed in another vehicle activate the “Component Protection Active” DTC and are with restricted functionality in that vehicle.
The component protection security feature is not implemented in all VAG vehicles or modules.
Many replacement parts including: Body Control Modules, ACC Radar Distance modules, HVAC CONTROL. MMI Heads, Sat Nav, Power Seat Memory, CD Changers have component protection from the original vehicle hard coded into the module locking it to the donor car. This will prevent it from functioning properly and will cause DTC errors to appear on your vehicle.
Your replacement part will need to be programmed online using specialist equipment and you may find that the dealer may refuse to do this and will insist upon you purchasing brand new replacement parts.
We have specialist diagnostic equipment that can remove the component protection limitation.
Our component protection removal service allows you to remove the “Component Protection Active” fault code and adapt the 2nd hand/donor module to work in the new vehicle with its full functionality.
