“The Actros era has arrived in Camolin.”

This newspaper feature from 5 February 1997 announced the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros range at Somers Commercials.

Above the truck photograph is our founder, the late Jim Somers. The article opens by saying that Jim would be proudly remembered during the launch weekend, as hauliers and business people from across Ireland came together in Camolin for the occasion.

It also recognises the business Jim established and the importance of the experience, service and support offered to our customers. Nearly 30 years later, those priorities remain central to what we do.

Pictured below is our sales representative Jimmy Nolan alongside the new Actros, which had already been named International Truck of the Year for 1997.

A special piece of our history, remembering Jim and an important milestone for Somers Commercials.
