SSR (Speed Star) vs. Super Star: Heritage & Distinction

While often confused, Speed Star Racing (SSR) and Super Star are two distinct heavyweights of Japanese multi-piece wheel history.

- SSR (Speed Star Racing): Founded in 1971 in Osaka, SSR pioneered the world’s first 3-piece wheel (the MK-I) and helped set Japan’s JWL/VIA testing standards. They are famous for motorsport engineering and iconic lines like the Vienna series.
- Super Star Co., Ltd.: Established in 1981, Super Star focused strictly on high-end luxury, VIP, and 3-piece modular wheels. They are the official manufacturer behind legendary lines like Leon Hardiritt, Lodenburg, and Bugel.

Preserving the comfort within a classic.

Sistem tata udara (AC) pada mobil klasik seringkali menjadi ujian sesungguhnya dalam sebuah proses restorasi. Ini bukan sekadar perkara menambah freon, melainkan merawat ekosistem mekanikal yang telah berusia puluhan tahun.

Didukung oleh pengalaman dan hobi yang mendalam sejak era 80-an, kami merangkum titik krusial yang pantang dilewatkan dalam perawatan AC kendaraan era 80 dan 90-an:

1. Kondensor
Berada di garda terdepan di balik gril, posisinya rentan terhadap kotoran dan benturan. Sirip yang tertekuk atau kotor akan menghambat pelepasan panas, membuat kabin tetap hangat meski tekanan freon maksimal.

2. Receiver Dryer
Jantung penyaring kelembapan. Komponen ini wajib diganti setiap kali sistem dibongkar. Membiarkannya jenuh sama dengan mengundang air masuk ke dalam sistem—penyebab utama kompresor macet (seized).

3. Integritas Freon
Kehilangan freon adalah tanda adanya kebocoran, bukan sekadar “habis terpakai”. Khusus unit pra-80-90an yang masih menggunakan R12, proses konversi (retrofit) menuju R134a membutuhkan ketelitian tinggi agar sistem berjalan sempurna.

4. Pelumasan Kompresor
Seringkali dilupakan. Kompresor yang bekerja tanpa takaran oli yang presisi akan menghasilkan gesekan kasar dan berujung pada keausan fatal dari dalam.

5. Selang & Fitting (Hoses)
Karet yang termakan usia akan mengeras dan getas. Kebocoran halus (micro-leaks) di titik ini sering menjadi tersangka utama hilangnya freon secara perlahan.

Mengabaikan hal-hal di atas bukan hanya mengorbankan kenyamanan, tapi berisiko merusak kompresor hingga memicu overheat pada sektor mesin.

Hari ini, standar tersebut teraplikasi penuh pada unit Corolla DX 1982. Overhaul jalur kondensor, penggantian dryer, dan kalibrasi ulang sistem. Dingin, senyap, dan proper.
